Membrane Bioreactor, MBR for short , is a new water treatment process combining membrane separation technology with biological process technology.
MBR1.0 Era:Sewage treatment
The first MBR in the world was developed in America in 1969. It combined activated sludge process with super filtration process to treat sewage in cities, which worked extremely well. The most attractive part of this equipment was to replace tradition secondary sedimentation tank with membrane, whose effluent could be directly reused.
MBR2.0Era:Reclaimed water reuse
After 1970s, Japan focused on development and research on the application of membrane separation technology in sewage treatment, and their achievement was proved to be effective to eliminate organics and also its effluent did not contain germs, able to be directly used as recycled water, which led MBR to practical application.
MBR3.0Era:BOCENT PC-MBR
In 1990s, MBR was introduced to China. We upgraded MBR sewage treatment process. Based on Plateceramic technology, we developed PC-MBR sewage treatment process. The membrane fluxes increased 3-4 times the traditional one, utility span was also 3-5 times higher. Meanwhile, its acid-base resistance and high temperature resistance was applicable in extreme environment, which achieved full utility in sewage treatment、waste water recycling and safe drinking water, and successfully led Chinese water treatment technology to the advanced position in the world.
